Sheikh Hasina, who fled Bangladesh amid escalating protests, will return to her home country once the new caretaker government, led by Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus, schedules elections. Her son, Sajeeb Wazed Joy, confirmed that Hasina is currently staying in India but intends to go back as soon as the interim administration sets an election date.

Hasina's departure followed weeks of violent unrest and the fall of her government, with her Awami League party not included in the interim cabinet. Reports suggest she is currently in a safe house in New Delhi, and while there are rumors of her seeking asylum in Britain, the British Home Office has not commented.

Joy, who is based in the US, expressed confidence that the Awami League will participate in the upcoming elections and potentially emerge victorious. He also indicated that he might engage in politics if necessary.
