India’s love affair with chicken has earned global recognition yet again. In its April 2026 edition of the Top 100 Chicken Dishes, food and travel platform TasteAtlas included six popular Indian preparations among the world’s highest-rated entries.
Indian favourites that made the cut
Leading the Indian line-up is Delhi’s iconic butter chicken, also known as Murgh Makhani, which secured the 6th position. Close behind, Punjab’s smoky Tandoori Murgh claimed the 22nd spot, while Chennai’s spicy and crispy Chicken 65 ranked 27th.
Other Indian dishes on the list include:
- Murgh Tikka at 53rd place
- Kolkata’s street-style Chicken Kathi Roll at 70th
- Bengal’s aromatic Murgh Rezala at 96th
From creamy gravies to charcoal-grilled appetisers and handheld street delights, the selected dishes reflect the wide spectrum of Indian culinary traditions.
The rankings were compiled from 13,944 user ratings. According to TasteAtlas, the objective behind such lists is to celebrate regional cuisines, encourage pride in traditional recipes, and inspire people to explore unfamiliar dishes.
Global flavours that topped the chart
The number one spot went to Korea’s famous chikin (Korean fried chicken), prized for its crunch and flavour-packed sauces. Peru’s pollo a la brasa followed in second place, known for its smoky roast and classic sides. The Philippines’ inasal na manok secured third position, while Türkiye’s pilic topkapi and Pakistan’s murgh karahi also featured among the top five.
Earlier this year, TasteAtlas’ Best Food 2026 rankings also placed India prominently across multiple categories. Culinary hubs such as Mumbai, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Lucknow were recognised for their rich gastronomic traditions.
With six chicken dishes earning global applause, India’s cuisine continues to strengthen its position on the international food map — proving once again that its flavours resonate far beyond its borders.
