Six Killed, One Critical in High-Speed Car Crash in Dehradun
A tragic car accident involving a speeding SUV and a truck claimed six young lives in Dehradun, leaving one survivor in critical condition
15-11-2024A high-speed car chase, a party, and a tragic accident claimed the lives of six young individuals in Dehradun late Monday night. The Toyota Innova they were traveling in collided with a truck at the ONGC intersection, leaving the vehicle mangled beyond recognition.
The Innova, reportedly racing a BMW at over 100 km/hour, failed to slow down at the intersection. According to eyewitness accounts, the SUV rear-ended the truck as it was crossing the intersection. The impact was catastrophic, ripping the car's roof off and causing severe injuries to the passengers.
The crash resulted in the deaths of Kunal Kukreja (23), Atul Agrawal (24), Rishabh Jain (24), Navya Goel (23), Kamakshi (20), and Guneet (19). While five victims were from Dehradun, Kukreja hailed from Himachal Pradesh. The lone survivor, Siddhesh Agrawal (25), who allegedly organized a party to celebrate his new car, is in critical condition at Synergy Hospital.
Sources indicated that the car had been speeding in the final stretch before the accident, though the police have yet to confirm if a race was involved. Unverified videos suggest the group may have consumed alcohol earlier that night, though the authorities are still investigating whether they were under the influence at the time of the crash.
The force of the collision scattered debris and body parts across the road. Rescue workers had to cut through the vehicle to retrieve the victims and the injured survivor.
The victims were reportedly students at a private college, and the purpose of their late-night journey remains unclear. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.
