The father of Siya Goyal has said that his daughter deserves the strictest punishment under the law, including capital punishment, if she is convicted in the alleged murder of her fiancé, Ketan Agarwal.

Speaking emotionally in an interview, Praveen Goyal revealed that the accusations against his daughter have left him devastated and caused severe health complications. He said the shock of her arrest resulted in a heart attack, following which he was admitted to the intensive care unit of a Pune hospital, where he is currently recovering.

His comments come after Pune Police accused Siya Goyal and her alleged boyfriend, Chetan Chaudhary, of conspiring to kill 26-year-old Ketan Agarwal at Lohagad Fort on June 18. Investigators claim the duo pushed Ketan into a deep gorge during a trek. Both accused remain in judicial custody while the investigation continues.

Although deeply shaken by the allegations, Goyal maintained that he still struggles to believe his daughter could commit such a crime.

"I have always known her as an honest and disciplined person. It is extremely difficult for me to accept these allegations," he said.

At the same time, he stressed that justice must take precedence over personal emotions. He said that if the charges are proven in court, his daughter should receive the same punishment as any other convicted offender.

Expressing the depth of his anguish, Goyal remarked that if the allegations are established, she should face the same fate that investigators say Ketan suffered at Lohagad Fort. He later clarified that he supports the death penalty if the court finds her guilty.

Despite his emotional statements, Goyal repeatedly insisted that he finds it hard to believe his daughter could have been involved in such an act.

Siya's mother, Pooja Goyal, also rejected suggestions that the couple's relationship was troubled. She said Siya and Ketan regularly met, stayed in touch through video calls, and appeared excited about their upcoming marriage.

According to her, Ketan frequently visited their home, and the family never noticed any signs of conflict between the two. She also dismissed claims that Siya wanted to back out of the wedding, pointing out that the family had already spent around Rs 50,000 preparing for a planned pre-wedding vacation to Bali.

"If she had wanted to end the relationship, there would have been no reason to continue with wedding preparations," she said.

Praveen Goyal described Ketan as someone the family had accepted as their own son and said both families were eagerly awaiting the wedding celebrations. He also rejected allegations that they had hidden any information about Siya's personal life or relationship from Ketan's family, insisting they had no knowledge of any alleged affair.

Police, however, allege that Siya and Chetan were involved in a relationship and planned Ketan's murder because she allegedly did not want to cancel the engagement out of fear it would bring embarrassment to her family. Investigators further claim there were previous unsuccessful attempts before the alleged plan was carried out at Lohagad Fort.

The case remains under investigation, with authorities continuing to gather evidence.
