Smriti Mandhana Calls Off Wedding With Palash Muchhal
The Indian cricket star has officially ended rumours, announcing that her long-planned wedding will not go ahead and asking for privacy as she refocuses on the game
07-12-2025India’s star batter Smriti Mandhana has finally broken her silence after weeks of swirling rumours, confirming that her planned wedding to music composer Palash Muchhal will no longer take place. The cricketer, who rarely speaks about her private life, issued a clear and emotional clarification on Instagram, putting an end to the ongoing chatter that escalated after the sudden postponement of the ceremony.
In her statement, Mandhana wrote, “There has been a lot being said about my personal life. I prefer to keep such matters private, but I need to state clearly that the wedding has been called off.”
The couple, together for nearly five years, had planned to marry on November 23, 2025. Their pre-wedding celebrations had made the rounds online, giving fans a glimpse into what many believed would be one of the most high-profile unions of the year.
However, plans were abruptly halted after Mandhana’s father, Srinivas Mandhana, suffered a sudden health crisis. Reports soon emerged that Palash Muchhal had also been hospitalised due to stress, prompting both families to describe the delay as temporary.
But the rumour mill picked up momentum when Mandhana quietly wiped her social media of wedding photos and was later seen publicly without her engagement ring. Her announcement now confirms that the split is final.
Along with confirming the breakup, the opener made it clear that her complete attention remains on cricket.
She wrote, “My purpose has always been to play for India. That remains the centre of my life, and I want to continue giving everything to the sport.”
Mandhana also urged fans and the media to give both families the time and privacy needed to cope with the situation, adding that she wishes to “close this chapter” and move forward.
The timing of the announcement aligns with a demanding schedule ahead for the left-hander, who is expected to play a central role in India’s upcoming international matches and lead Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the next WPL season.
Her close friend Jemimah Rodrigues had even pulled out of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) to support her soon after the initial postponement of the wedding — a gesture that highlighted the solidarity around Mandhana during a difficult period.
Mandhana’s confirmation brings clarity to a story that has commanded massive public interest, ending weeks of unanswered questions.
