At least nine individuals sustained injuries following a stampede at Mumbai’s Bandra Terminus early this morning. The incident took place around 5:56 a.m. on platform 1, just before the Bandra-Gorakhpur Express was set to depart. The injured passengers were quickly transported to Bhabha Hospital, where they are currently receiving medical attention.

According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the stampede was triggered by heavy passenger traffic due to the upcoming Diwali festival.

Of those injured, seven are reportedly in stable condition, while two others remain in critical care. The injured individuals have been identified as Shabhir Abdul Rehman (40), Parmeshwar Sukhdar Gupta (28), Ravindra Harihar Chuma (30), Ramsevak Ravindra Prasad Prajapati (29), Sanjay Tilakram Kangay (27), Divyanshu Yogendra Yadav (18), Mohammad Shareef Shaikh (25), Indrajith Sahani (19), and Noor Mohammad Shaikh (18).

Train No. 22921, headed from Bandra to Gorakhpur, arrived at platform 1 and was met by a dense crowd of eager passengers. Disturbing visuals from the scene show blood on the platform floor as railway police and bystanders assist injured passengers onto stretchers.

One video shows a railway officer carrying an injured passenger over his shoulder, while another clip reveals two men lying on the platform, their clothing bloodstained. A man sits nearby on a bench, his shirt torn, reflecting the chaotic nature of the incident.

“A sudden stampede erupted at Bandra Terminus this morning as crowds surged forward to board the Bandra-Gorakhpur train,” an eyewitness reported. “The situation quickly escalated beyond the station’s capacity, resulting in multiple injuries.”
