Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal criticized Sunita Kejriwal, wife of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, after she expressed relief that the CM's aide, Bibhav Kumar, was released on bail. Maliwal had previously accused Kumar of assaulting her during a visit to the Chief Minister's residence on May 13, leading to his arrest on May 18. After spending 100 days in judicial custody, Kumar was granted bail by the Supreme Court.

Sunita Kejriwal took to X (formerly Twitter) to share her relief over Kumar's bail. In response, Maliwal accused the Chief Minister's wife of supporting someone who had allegedly assaulted her. She claimed this sent a damaging message that encouraged violence against women. Maliwal also criticized the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for defending Kumar, saying the party was more focused on discrediting her as a survivor and using powerful lawyers to protect the accused.

Maliwal shared an image from the Mahabharata showing Draupadi's disrobing to illustrate her experience and conveyed her belief that justice would eventually be served.

The incident has sparked a rift between Maliwal and the AAP, with party leaders dismissing her allegations. Delhi Minister Atishi labeled her a "pawn of the BJP" in an effort to discredit her claims.
