Tamil actor Vijay’s political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), passed several resolutions during its executive council meeting on Sunday, expressing strong opposition to the Centre's proposal for ‘One Nation One Election.’
TVK also demanded that the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) be removed from Tamil Nadu, arguing it is detrimental to students in the state. Additionally, the party criticized the DMK-led Tamil Nadu government for failing to conduct a caste survey, claiming that it was unjustly placing the blame on the Centre.
TVK also called out Chief Minister MK Stalin and the DMK, alleging that their election promises were misleading and aimed solely at gaining power.
In his first major political rally on October 27, held in Villupuram, Vijay elaborated on the party’s core principles, which include promoting equality, social justice, secularism, and advocating for Tamil as the language of administration in courts. He also proposed abolishing the role of the Governor. Emphasizing both Dravidianism and Tamil nationalism as essential elements, Vijay positioned TVK as a party with a broader commitment to justice, unity, and societal progress.
Vijay also announced that TVK would contest in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.
