Tragedy struck in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district as a bus carrying pilgrims from the Shiv Khori temple to Katra was targeted by suspected terrorists, resulting in ten fatalities and injuring 33 others. The incident, which occurred at 6:10 pm, involved the bus plunging into a gorge after being fired upon by the assailants.

Local authorities, aided by villagers, swiftly evacuated the passengers from the site by 8:10 pm, with the injured rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment. While the identities of the deceased and injured remain unconfirmed, efforts are underway to ascertain their details.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Reasi Mohita Sharma attributed the tragic accident to the bus driver losing control amidst the gunfire, leading to the fatal plunge. A joint operation involving the police, Indian Army, and CRPF was immediately launched to locate and apprehend the attackers, believed to be hiding in the mountainous terrain of Rajouri, Poonch, and Reasi.

Expressing condolences and solidarity, political leaders such as National Conference (NC) leader Omar Abdullah and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge condemned the attack, calling for swift action to provide aid and compensation to the victims. The incident underscores the persistent threat of militancy in the region, prompting renewed calls for heightened security measures and vigilance.
