09-11-2024Three coaches of the Secunderabad-Shalimar Superfast Express derailed near Howrah in West Bengal early this morning. The derailment happened about 40 kilometers from Kolkata in Nalpur, where the weekly special train veered off-track. Initial reports confirm no fatalities or serious injuries.
According to the South Eastern Railway, the accident involved a parcel van and two coaches of train number 22850, which derailed at 5:31 am while passing Nalpur station in the Kharagpur Division. “There are no reports of major injuries or casualties,” railway officials said.
The derailment occurred as the train was transitioning from the main line to an outer track. Relief trains and medical teams from Santragachhi and Kharagpur promptly arrived at the scene. Authorities have also arranged buses to transport stranded passengers to their intended destinations.
