At least three people lost their lives after a helicopter crashed and caught fire in Maharashtra’s Pune district on Wednesday morning, according to local police. The crash occurred in the Bavdhan Budruk area, though it remains unclear whether the helicopter was government-owned or privately operated.

Initial reports suggest that poor visibility may have contributed to the accident. “A helicopter crashed in Bavdhan, Pune district. Based on preliminary information, three people are feared dead. The identity of the helicopter is yet to be confirmed as it is currently engulfed in flames,” a senior Pune Police official told news agency PTI.

This incident comes after a similar helicopter crash in August near Paud village, Pune. In that crash, a private helicopter, model AW 139, went down while traveling from Mumbai’s Juhu to Hyderabad, leaving four people injured. The passengers included Anand Captain, who required hospitalization, and Deer Bhatia, Amardeep Singh, and SP Ram, who were later reported to be in stable condition. The helicopter in that case belonged to the private aviation company Global Vectra.
