10-08-2024A Tihar Jail official has been suspended for misconduct after a video surfaced on social media showing him dancing with a pistol at a party, authorities confirmed on Friday. Deepak Sharma, who serves as an Assistant Superintendent at Mandoli Prison under the Tihar Jail, was seen in an 18-second clip dancing to the Bollywood song "Khalnayak Hoon Main" while brandishing a gun alongside three others.
In the video, Sharma is seen holding the pistol in one hand and dancing at an event. At one point, he appears to point the gun at another man before lowering it moments later.
The Prison Department in Delhi, after reviewing the viral footage, decided to take immediate disciplinary action by suspending Sharma. An inquiry into the incident, led by the Superintendent, has also been launched, according to a statement from jail officials.
