The White House on Friday announced the initiation of large-scale deportation operations, highlighting President Donald Trump’s commitment to taking strong action against illegal immigration. The administration emphasized that those who enter the United States unlawfully will face severe consequences.

In a post on X, the White House reiterated this stance, stating, "Just as he promised, President Trump is sending a strong message to the world: those who enter the United States illegally will face serious consequences."

Mass Deportation Campaign Begins

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the commencement of the deportation campaign, revealing that 538 individuals classified as "illegal immigrant criminals" have been arrested. This includes a suspected terrorist, four members of the Tren de Aragua gang, and others convicted of serious crimes such as sex offenses against minors.

"Deportation flights have begun. President Trump is sending a strong and clear message to the entire world: if you illegally enter the United States of America, you will face severe consequences," Leavitt said in a post on X. She described the initiative as the "largest deportation operation" in U.S. history, with deportations being carried out using military aircraft.

She added, "The Trump Administration arrested 538 illegal immigrant criminals, including a suspected terrorist and gang members. The largest deportation operation in history is underway. Promises made. Promises kept."

India’s Response to Illegal Immigration

India also addressed the issue of undocumented nationals, with the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) affirming its commitment to facilitate the return of Indian citizens residing illegally in the United States or elsewhere.

"We are against illegal immigration, especially because it is linked to several forms of organized crime," MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said during a media briefing. He assured that the Indian government would cooperate to verify the nationality of individuals overstaying abroad and assist in their repatriation.

"For Indians in the United States or any other country, if they are nationals without proper documentation, we will take them back, provided their identity as Indians is verified," Jaiswal stated.

Trump’s Immigration Policies

This latest move aligns with President Trump’s campaign pledge to enforce stricter immigration measures. During his 2024 presidential campaign, he promised to declare a national emergency to implement mass deportations of undocumented migrants. Upon assuming office on January 20, he signed executive orders declaring a "national emergency" at the U.S.-Mexico border.

While the Trump administration has shown support for skilled immigrants through programs like H-1B, the crackdown on undocumented migrants has caused concern among the Indian-American community, particularly those without legal status.

The intensification of U.S. immigration enforcement underscores the administration’s broader agenda of prioritizing border security and addressing illegal immigration challenges.
