Trump Applauds Elon Musk's Support, Calls Him 'A Star' at Florida Rally
At a rally in Florida, Donald Trump hailed Elon Musk as a key ally in his re-election campaign, praising his efforts and SpaceX’s recent achievements
06-11-2024At a major rally in Florida, former President Donald Trump celebrated the support of Elon Musk, the world’s wealthiest individual and one of his staunchest allies. Trump referred to Musk as “a star” and praised his invaluable involvement in the re-election campaign.
Musk, the 53-year-old billionaire, has been a significant figure in Trump’s campaign, using his social media platform, X, to rally support and investing around $120 million into the effort. Trump highlighted Musk’s dedication, recalling their two-week campaign tour across Pennsylvania. “He’s an amazing guy,” Trump said, praising Musk for his hands-on commitment to the cause.
Trump also made a point of celebrating SpaceX’s recent achievement of catching its Super Heavy booster rocket mid-air after its Starship spacecraft's test flight. Reflecting on the feat, Trump marveled at the spectacle, saying, “It came down, and you saw the fire burning, and I thought only Elon could do that. It felt like a space-age movie.”
Trump described the moment as almost unbelievable, with the rocket descending so smoothly that it appeared to “wrap its arms around it” as if “holding it like a baby.” He recalled calling Musk to ask if the feat was indeed his doing. Musk humorously responded, saying, "Who else could do that?" when asked whether China, Russia, or even the U.S. could pull off the same stunt. Trump, in awe of Musk’s capabilities, remarked, "That’s why I love you, Elon," before stressing that the U.S. must protect its “geniuses” like Musk, as there are few such talents in the world.
While Trump has mentioned Musk as a potential candidate for a role in his administration, he has clarified that Musk will not be part of his Cabinet. Trump has also joked about appointing Musk as his "secretary of cost-cutting" due to his business acumen.
As the election results edge closer, Trump is on the verge of securing the 270 electoral votes needed to win, with victories in key swing states like North Carolina, Georgia, and Pennsylvania already under his belt.
