US President-elect Donald Trump on Saturday issued a strong warning to the BRICS nations, demanding that they refrain from creating or endorsing a new currency that could potentially replace the US dollar in global trade. In a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump threatened that any country attempting to substitute the US dollar would face 100% tariffs on their exports to the United States.

"We require a commitment from these countries that they will neither create a new BRICS currency nor back any other currency to replace the powerful US dollar. If they don’t, they will face 100% tariffs and should expect to lose access to the US economy," Trump stated.

He further added, "They can go find another 'sucker'. There's no chance the BRICS will replace the US Dollar in international trade, and any country that tries should say goodbye to America."
