Two Pune Police officials were suspended on Friday for failing to promptly inform their senior officials about the Porsche accident involving a teenage driver last week, which resulted in the deaths of two individuals in Kalyani Nagar, sources reported.

Pune Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar stated, "Police Inspector Rahul Jagdale and Assistant Police Inspector Vishwanath Todkari, stationed at Yerwada police station, have been suspended for not reporting the accident to the wireless control room."

The incident involved a Porsche allegedly driven by a 17-year-old, reportedly under the influence of alcohol, who struck and killed two motorbike-riding software engineers early Sunday morning.

After public outrage over the quick bail initially granted to the teenager, the Juvenile Justice Board remanded him.

Additionally, the police indicated that there were efforts to alter evidence to suggest that the Porsche was driven by a family driver instead of the teenager. "We have CCTV footage showing the juvenile drinking in a pub. Our case does not solely rely on the blood report; we have other evidence," said Kumar.

Kumar added, "The juvenile was fully aware of his actions, knowing that such conduct could lead to a serious accident where section 304 is applicable."

Reports also surfaced that the juvenile received preferential treatment while in police custody, including being served pizza. Kumar responded, "There was no pizza party at the police station, but an internal investigation has been initiated regarding certain events."

He assured, "We are working to make this case robust. Cases have been filed against the accused's father and the bar owners. Technical analysis of the evidence is ongoing."

The teenager's father, Vishal Agarwal, along with four others, was arrested in connection with the incident and all five were remanded to judicial custody until June 7.
