US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti emphasized the strengthening ties between the United States and India, attributing significant progress to the close friendship between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Joe Biden. In an interview with ANI, Garcetti described Modi as “the most pro-American prime minister in Indian history” and praised Biden as “the most pro-Indian president the US has ever had.”
“These two leaders share a profound bond,” Garcetti stated. “They embody the increasing closeness between our nations.” He noted that this relationship has fueled enhanced strategic, economic, and cultural cooperation in recent years.
The ambassador also underscored the significance of the Quad, a strategic forum consisting of the US, India, Japan, and Australia, calling it a “powerful” platform for collaboration in the Indo-Pacific region. “The Quad allows us to set a vision, share principles, and discover common solutions,” Garcetti remarked. “It’s about upholding the rule of law in a region where not all nations follow the same guidelines.”
He added that the Quad serves as a counterbalance to nations that challenge the values upheld by its members. “We’re proactively working to develop solutions for a free and prosperous Indo-Pacific,” he noted.
The most recent Quad Summit, hosted by President Biden in Wilmington, Delaware, brought together Prime Minister Modi, Japan’s Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, and Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to discuss shared concerns and strategies for the Indo-Pacific region. Garcetti affirmed that the Quad represents a collective vision for the area. “We stand for principles that not every country upholds, but together, we are forging a better future,” he concluded.
