Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar raised concerns over organized religious conversions, warning that vulnerable sections of society, such as tribals, are being targeted through deceptive tactics. Speaking at the inaugural session of the Hindu Spiritual and Seva Mela 2024, Dhankhar condemned these actions as a planned conspiracy that runs counter to India's values and constitutional principles.
"A sugar-coated philosophy is being promoted, luring vulnerable communities with false promises," Dhankhar said, urging swift action against such forces. He emphasized the need for vigilance to safeguard the nation’s unity, cautioning that "sinister elements" are working to fragment India.
Referring to the inclusivity of the Hindu religion, Dhankhar noted that the Preamble of the Constitution mirrors the principles of Sanatan Dharma, underscoring service to others as a core value. He also highlighted the resilience of Indian society, which has maintained its spirit of service despite foreign invasions and rule.
He rejected global reports that suggest only 40% of the Indian population is engaged in public service, asserting that the real figure is much higher. "We are a society that helps others in distress, even at our own expense," he added.
