Who is Narendra Modi? Lalu Yadav Urges Voters to 'Oust BJP' in Jharkhand
RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav rallied in Jharkhand, calling for the defeat of the BJP and expressing confidence in the INDIA bloc’s strength
10-11-2024Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad Yadav criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday, urging voters in Jharkhand to "oust the BJP." Speaking at an election rally in Koderma district, Lalu questioned Modi’s significance and emphasized the unity of the INDIA bloc, of which the RJD is a key member.
“There’s nothing special about Narendra Modi. Who is he?” Lalu remarked, calling on voters to support RJD candidate Subhash Yadav. "We need to remove the BJP," he asserted, expressing confidence that the INDIA alliance would unseat the ruling party in the state’s upcoming assembly elections.
The 76-year-old veteran politician argued that the BJP’s influence has weakened and emphasized that the INDIA bloc now poses a serious challenge to the ruling party's dominance. “I was instrumental in forming the INDIA bloc, and we’re stronger than the BJP,” Lalu stated, adding that he had contributed to Koderma’s development over the years.
In Koderma, the RJD candidate Subhash Yadav, a close ally of Lalu and now representing the INDIA bloc, faces off against two-time BJP MLA Neera Yadav. Recently, Subhash garnered attention after the Supreme Court granted him bail in a prominent money laundering case.
Earlier, Lalu’s son Tejashwi Yadav also spoke out against the BJP, accusing it of spreading division and undermining democracy. The former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister remarked that the Jharkhand elections are a fight to protect the country’s Constitution and uphold democratic values.
"The BJP sows discord and disrespects the people’s mandate," Tejashwi claimed, emphasizing that the elections are crucial for preserving the nation’s principles. Jharkhand’s 81-seat assembly elections will take place on November 13 and 20, with the results expected on November 23.
