On Sunday, Mumbai police detained a 24-year-old woman accused of issuing a death threat to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Identified as Fatima Khan from Ulhasnagar in Maharashtra’s Thane district, the woman holds a degree in Information Technology but is reportedly dealing with mental health issues, according to police sources cited by PTI.

The threat was sent to the Mumbai Police on Saturday evening via a message warning that Adityanath would be harmed if he did not step down within 10 days. The message, which referenced the recent killing of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, was received by the Mumbai Police Traffic Control Cell from an anonymous number.

Upon receiving the threat, authorities alerted the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS), who tracked down Khan’s location in Ulhasnagar. In a coordinated operation with local police, the ATS visited her residence and took her in for further questioning.

Fatima was subsequently taken to Mumbai for additional interrogation, with a senior police officer clarifying that she has not been formally arrested but was served a notice after questioning. Authorities also plan to conduct a mental health assessment to determine her psychological condition.

Following the threat, security around the Chief Minister has been tightened.

This incident occurred shortly after a man from Bandra East, identified as Azam Mohammed Mustafa, was arrested on October 30 for allegedly threatening Bollywood actor Salman Khan and demanding a ransom of ₹2 crore. Additionally, a 20-year-old man from Noida named Mohammad Tayyab was detained on October 29 for making similar threats to both Salman Khan and MLA Zeeshan Siddique, also demanding money.
