Zomato has launched a new feature that simplifies cash transactions for its users. CEO Deepinder Goyal announced on X that customers can now pay for their delivery orders in cash and have any remaining balance instantly credited to their Zomato Money account. This balance can be used for future orders or dining experiences.

Goyal explained that the new feature addresses the common issue of handling exact change during cash payments. With this update, customers will be able to avoid the hassle of dealing with small change, as any excess amount paid will be credited to their Zomato Money account for later use.

The initiative was inspired by similar solutions seen on other platforms, as noted by Goyal. He expressed gratitude to BigBasket for their inspiration and acknowledged the input from Zomato’s delivery partners who contributed to developing the feature.

Additionally, reports indicate that online delivery platforms, including Zomato, Swiggy, and BigBasket, might soon offer delivery of low-alcohol beverages such as beer and wine. Several states are exploring pilot projects for this service, with authorities evaluating the implications.

During the COVID-19 lockdown, Swiggy and Zomato began alcohol delivery in non-metro areas to adapt to changing circumstances. Both companies have since expanded their services and are working with authorities to extend alcohol delivery to more regions.
