Zomato Urges Customers to Limit Afternoon Orders Amid Severe Heatwave. internet users divided
In response to the extreme heatwave, Zomato has urged customers to avoid placing orders during peak afternoon hours to protect delivery workers
02-06-2024Facing the ongoing severe heatwave, Zomato has issued an unusual request to its customers. On Sunday, the food delivery giant posted on X, advising users to avoid placing orders during the peak afternoon heat unless absolutely necessary.
This advisory has garnered mixed reactions. Many applauded the move, recognizing the company’s concern for the well-being of its delivery staff amid scorching temperatures. However, some users were confused, questioning how a food delivery service could ask customers to limit orders, especially those who rely heavily on delivery services due to living alone or other constraints.
In related news, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has provided a glimmer of hope for Delhi residents, forecasting light rain and thunderstorms for Sunday. Following an exceptionally dry May, the capital recorded a minimum temperature of 30.4 degrees Celsius this morning, 3.5 degrees above the average for this time of year. The maximum temperature is expected to reach around 43 degrees Celsius.
Saturday saw Delhi experiencing even higher temperatures, with a peak of 44.2 degrees Celsius, 4.2 degrees above the seasonal norm.
As the heatwave continues to grip the region, Zomato's request underscores the importance of prioritizing the health and safety of delivery workers who endure extreme conditions to ensure service continuity.
