CJI Chandrachud reveals he prayed for Ayodhya dispute resolution before verdict
Chief Justice DY Chandrachud shared that he prayed for divine guidance during the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid case, emphasizing faith in finding solutions
21-10-2024Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud recently shared that he prayed for a resolution to the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute before delivering the landmark judgment, emphasizing that faith in God can help find solutions. Speaking to residents of his hometown Pune, he reflected on his involvement in the Ayodhya case, which he deliberated for three months.
The CJI recalled, "There are often cases we don't have solutions for, and this happened with the Ayodhya dispute." He added that he sought divine intervention, saying, "I prayed to the deity, asking for a way forward. Believe me, if you have faith, God will always find a way."
The Ayodhya case centered on the historical and religious dispute over the site where the Babri Masjid once stood, believed to be the birthplace of Lord Ram. The Supreme Court resolved the case on November 9, 2019, when a five-judge bench, including Justice Chandrachud, ruled in favor of constructing a Ram temple at the site while allotting a separate five-acre plot for a mosque.
CJI Chandrachud visited the Ram Temple in Ayodhya in July and offered prayers, with the idol consecration ceremony taking place on January 22 in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
