Dave Bennett has broken the Guinness World Record for the heaviest eggplant, with a stunning weight of 3.778 kg (8 lb 5.3 oz)
23-08-2024Dave Bennett from Iowa has set a new Guinness World Record for the heaviest eggplant. The impressive vegetable weighed in at 3.778 kg (8 lb 5.3 oz), over ten times larger than a typical eggplant found in stores.
Captured in a recent video shared by Guinness World Records, Bennett is seen carefully placing the enormous eggplant on a scale, revealing its record-breaking weight. Bennett planted the eggplant in early April and harvested it on July 31 in Bloomfield, Iowa.
The eggplant measures 71.12 cm (2 ft 3.9 in) in circumference and stands 35.56 cm (1 ft 1.16 in) tall. The Guinness World Records post received widespread acclaim online, with many users expressing their amazement and appreciation.
The Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship verified the record, with Inspector Ivan Hankins overseeing the measurements. Hankins initially thought the eggplant might approach 10 pounds before confirming the final weight. The achievement is a notable addition to Iowa’s list of agricultural records.
