Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was granted bail in a money laundering case linked to the defunct liquor policy by a Delhi court on Thursday. The vacation Judge Nyay Bindu of Rouse Avenue Court reserved the order earlier in the day before passing it.
Following the bail decision, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) requested 48 hours to file an appeal and challenged the verdict in a higher court, but the judge declined to stay the order.
Arvind Kejriwal had been arrested by the ED on March 21 amidst dramatic circumstances just before the Lok Sabha elections. In May, the Supreme Court granted him interim bail considering the election period, and he surrendered on June 2.
