With Delhi reeling under a crippling water crisis, exacerbated by scorching temperatures nearing 50 degrees Celsius, the state government has urgently petitioned the Supreme Court for increased water supply from neighboring states of Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Himachal Pradesh.

The severe shortage has plunged several areas of Delhi, including Chanakyapuri's Sanjay Camp and the Geeta Colony, into dire straits, with residents facing acute water scarcity on a daily basis. Despite the efforts of water tankers, many residents find themselves waiting in long queues under the unforgiving sun, desperately hoping to secure even a single bucket of water.

The situation has been further exacerbated by the relentless heatwave gripping the national capital, with the minimum temperature soaring nearly 30 degrees Celsius, a staggering 2.8 degrees above normal. The weather office has issued warnings of sustained heatwave conditions in Delhi for the coming days, advising residents to take precautionary measures to minimize exposure to the scorching heat and ensure proper hydration.

The plea to the Supreme Court underscores the urgency of the situation, with Delhi's water supply infrastructure struggling to meet the escalating demands of its rapidly growing population, exacerbated by the prevailing weather conditions. The state government is seeking immediate relief measures to address the crisis and provide much-needed respite to the affected residents.

In response to the escalating crisis, various government agencies and non-profit organizations have stepped up efforts to distribute water to affected areas and provide relief to vulnerable communities. However, the scale of the challenge remains daunting, requiring coordinated action and support from all stakeholders to mitigate the impact of the water shortage and ensure the well-being of Delhi's residents.
