Hemant Soren, the former Chief Minister of Jharkhand, walked out of Birsa Munda jail in Ranchi on Friday after securing bail from the Jharkhand High Court in a money laundering case linked to a land scam. His release was met with loud cheers and slogans from Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leaders and supporters as he left the prison with his wife, Kalpana Soren.

Upon his release, Soren visited his parents, former Chief Minister Shibu Soren and Roopi Soren, sharing photos of the reunion on social media with the message, "Greetings to everyone from Jharkhand!"

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had arrested Soren, along with over 25 others, including IAS officer and former Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Chhavi Ranjan and Bhanu Pratap Prasad, as part of their investigation into the land scam. Soren, who was arrested on January 31 shortly after resigning as Chief Minister, had vehemently denied the charges, claiming they were politically motivated by the BJP-led central government.

On June 22, the ED seized Rs 1 crore in cash and 100 live bullet rounds during raids in Ranchi, further intensifying the investigation.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed her delight on social media, celebrating Soren's bail and welcoming him back to public life. She praised Soren as an important tribal leader and anticipated his prompt return to political activities.

In Ranchi, Soren's residence was filled with celebration and the distribution of sweets as supporters rejoiced over his release and the granting of bail in the land scam case.
