Hyderabad Police have filed a case against Telugu actor Allu Arjun, his security team, and the management of Sandhya Theatre following a stampede during the premiere of his film Pushpa 2: The Rule, which claimed the life of a 35-year-old woman and left her nine-year-old son critically injured.

The incident occurred on Wednesday evening when Allu Arjun arrived at the theatre without prior notice, drawing massive crowds eager to see the actor. The chaos erupted as the crowd surged forward to catch a glimpse of him, leading to asphyxiation and injuries.

The police have booked the actor, his security personnel, and the theatre management under sections 105 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 118(1) (causing grievous hurt by dangerous means) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand stated that there had been no advance communication from the actor’s team or the theatre management about his visit. The commissioner also pointed out that there was no separate entry or exit for the actor, despite the management being aware of his arrival.

"Stringent action will be taken against all those responsible for the chaos, which led to the tragic loss of life," the commissioner said.

The deceased, identified as Revathi, and her son, Teja, had come to watch the premiere when the stampede broke out. The police reported that Revathi and her son were pulled from the crowd and given CPR before being taken to Durgabai Deshmukh Hospital. Revathi was declared dead on arrival, while her son remains in critical condition at another hospital.

The woman’s family, residents of Dilsukhnagar, have demanded accountability from both the theatre management and the actor. They have also called on Allu Arjun to provide them with support in this time of crisis.

In response to the incident, the production company behind the film, Mythri Movie Makers, issued a statement expressing their condolences and promising to support the family. "We are deeply anguished by the incident and are committed to standing by the family during this difficult time," the statement read.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have assured strict action against those responsible for the lapses that led to the tragedy.
