Nampally Court Postpones Allu Arjun’s Bail Hearing to December 30 in Stampede Case
Actor Allu Arjun’s bail plea in the Sandhya Theatre stampede case was deferred as the court granted more time for the public prosecutor’s counter
27-12-2024The Nampally court, which was hearing actor Allu Arjun’s petition for regular bail, has postponed the proceedings to December 30. This comes after the actor’s 14-day judicial remand, issued earlier in connection with the Sandhya Theatre stampede case, expired today.
The actor appeared virtually for the hearing, during which the public prosecutor requested more time to file a counter. As a result, the court deferred the arguments on the bail plea. Allu Arjun’s legal team highlighted that the Telangana High Court had earlier granted him interim bail.
The court also postponed the hearing on the extension of his judicial remand to January 10.
The incident in question occurred on December 4 during the benefit show of Allu Arjun’s film Pushpa 2 at Sandhya Theatre. A stampede led to the tragic death of a 35-year-old woman, while her eight-year-old son remains in critical condition at a private hospital.
The incident has sparked public outrage and intense legal scrutiny. Investigations are ongoing, with Allu Arjun and the theatre management under the spotlight. The actor’s bail plea has become a focal point in the case.
In response to the tragedy, Allu Arjun and the team behind Pushpa 2 announced a compensation of ₹2 crore for the affected family. The actor personally contributed ₹1 crore, while production house Mythri Movies and director Sukumar each donated ₹50 lakh. The compensation was handed over by Dil Raju, the chairperson of the Telangana Film Development Corporation.
The next hearing is expected to address the public prosecutor’s counter as well as Allu Arjun’s regular bail plea.
