24-12-2024Former U.S. President Bill Clinton was admitted to MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington on Monday after developing a fever. Despite his health concerns, the 78-year-old is reportedly in "good spirits," according to his deputy chief of staff, Angel Urena.
Urena, in a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), revealed that Clinton was hospitalized in the afternoon for tests and observation. "He remains in good spirits and deeply appreciates the excellent care he is receiving," the statement read.
Clinton, who served two terms as president from 1993 to 2001, has had a history of health challenges. He underwent a quadruple bypass surgery in 2004 after experiencing chest pains and difficulty breathing. In 2005, he had surgery for a partially collapsed lung, followed by the placement of two stents in a coronary artery in 2010.
In recent years, Clinton has adopted a mostly vegan diet, a lifestyle change that has reportedly improved his overall health.
In 2021, Clinton was hospitalized in California for six days due to a urological infection that had spread to his bloodstream. Although his condition at the time required intensive monitoring, he did not experience septic shock.
Earlier this year, Clinton participated in the Democratic National Convention in Chicago and campaigned for Vice President Kamala Harris during her unsuccessful run in the November 5 presidential election.
Doctors are monitoring Clinton’s condition closely, and further updates are expected in the coming days.
